Canoe up the river

Travel down the breath-taking Mtentu Estuary

paddling-activities-mtentu-estuaryIf canoe travel is your thing, then you’ve come to the right place! The Mtentu Estuary is a sight to behold. Our local community believe that the Mtentu River is a very spiritual place and so do we. From the moment you gaze up the gorge or look down over Leopard’s Falls, you will know why our community believes the river and forest around it has a spirit of its own.

Hire a canoe or bring your own and be prepared to be amazed. Turtles accompany you as you make your way between the towering rock cliffs that surround you. Have a shower under one of the three breath-taking waterfalls, enjoy gazing at the fiddler crabs in the mangroves, watch giant kingfish swim right past you, see mullet as they jump over your boat, listen to the baboon's bark echoing in the giant caves or just sun bathe on Centre Rock, surrounded by the beauty of this spiritual place.

Don’t forget to do the Swallowtail Hike and Paddle as it is an experience not to be missed. For the more adventurous, take a leap of faith and jump off a 13 meter cliff into the estuary, it’s not called Fools Point for nothing!
